Reading time: 5 mins

Welcome to Niche Site Digest!

Here’s what happened last week:

  • 📈 Yet another Google update has begun

  • 💰 Low DR site that made over $400k in less than 2 years

  • 🤖 AI-content site sold for $59k [case study]

Let’s dive in!

📈 Google Helpful Content Update has begun

It seems just as soon as the Core Update was finished, the September Helpful Content update began rolling out.

Monitor your rankings and wait until the update has finished rolling out to make any changes to your site.

Good luck!

🥘 Food Blog Making $40k/month (1+ million visitors)

This week in the Niche Pursuits podcast Sarah Bond explains how she built Live Eat Learn from a blank WordPress install to a DR 70 behemoth that gets over 1 million visitors and makes ~$40k/month.

She covers everything from EEAT to how she creates content, traffic and revenue breakdown, and more.

Even if you are not in the food niche, you’re still going to get a ton of ideas for your own site.

🤖 AI-content niche site case study

There’s a lot of hype around AI content, but very few people have actually demonstrated results with numbers and data.

Until now.

This is probably the best AI content site case study I have read so far.

If you’re even remotely curious about AI content, you owe it to yourself to give this Reddit post a read.

🔍 Site Spotlight

I found this site while doing my research, and I couldn’t wait to share it with you.

Here’s the breakdown:

Most impressive stat?

They made over $400k since starting the site in 2021.

How do I know that?

It's simple.

The course is $495.

And they have a private FB group for course buyers.

834 x $495 = $412 830

They also have relocation tours they offer at $200-$300 per day, so in all likelihood, they made over half a million dollars in less than 2 years with this site.

So what are the keys to their success?

There are a lot of things they are doing right, but here are a few things that stand out:

✅ Excellent keyword research.

They have only around 200 pages, but the keywords they are ranking for are a perfect fit for their business.

✅ Diversified traffic sources.

Besides their blog, they also have an active YouTube channel with 38k subscribers. Not only does that provide additional social proof and traffic, but they also capture emails and put them in a sequence that sells their course - awesome.

✅ Building a community. The course buyer's Facebook group is pretty active, with several posts per day and almost 200 posts in the last month. This further solidifies their brand and makes selling additional products that much easier (e.g. city relocation tours).

So what can you learn from this site?

The biggest opportunity I see here is starting a similar site for a different country.

Here are a few countries I would consider:

👉 Costa Rica

👉 Panama

👉 Portugal

What country would you think a relocation site would be good for?

🛠️ Tool of the week

This is one of my favorite writing tools by far.

In fact, I consider it more or less mandatory for writing and editing these days.

I’m talking about Grammarly, of course.

The free version is usually enough to get started, but if you’re serious about your content, you’d be wise to invest in the paid version.

That’s it for today - see you next week!
